Oven Wizards celebrate 15 years… whilst messing about on the river!

Oven Wizards have recently celebrated 15 years at their annual Conference in Windsor.

Delegates attended a Saturday afternoon Conference where they discussed all things oven cleaning, including service, business development and operational matters with over 200 years of oven cleaning experience in the room.

In the evening Wizards and their partners were treated to a Thames River boat cruise, including food, bar and DJ, as they took in the sights including Windsor castle by day… and by night.

  

     

                                                                                                     

James Booker, Oven Wizards, Maidstone said, “We all had an excellent weekend.  The relaxed agenda of the conference worked very well - it was good to let conversations run naturally rather than fitting too closely to an itinerary. A hat trick of resales for Oven Wizards!

 

We have seen a lot of activity in the first half of 2025 with 3 resales taking place nationwide in the Oven Wizards Territories of The Scottish Borders, Hereford and Worcester West and Fleet and Farnborough.

Wizards have worked hard to realise their investments by selling great Oven Wizards businesses to new Wizards to take to the next level, indeed the Territory in Fleet and Farnborough has now been sold for a second time.

This is what Mark Fitch had to say about his experiences as an Oven Wizard and his sale -

“I’d owned a business previously and this time round I didn’t want to start from scratch, an existing Oven Wizards franchise was for sale locally, following initial enquiries with head office and directly with the franchisee I decided I could do this and it felt right for me at that particular time 

Following my training period I received regular calls from Oven Wizards head office to see how things were going, this continued throughout the whole time I owned the franchise, if I did need help with anything at all from head office it was only a phone call or e-mail away." 

He went on to say

"I enjoyed the autonomy, this helped massively with family commitments, being a member of the Oven Wizards community was also a great experience. Finally I really enjoyed meeting the interesting and lovely people during the course of my work

I was fortunate, the customer base I bought provided a significant amount of repeat work, after a few months you perfect the cleaning process, there is also a collective of  other Wizards that are happy to share their experience, joining a community was a key reason I joined Oven Wizards

After 6+ years I decided it was time to move on and put my business up for sale, with further assistance from Oven Wizard I managed to secure a sale with Shaun Davey, he’d been employed as an oven cleaner for 8 years and wanted to work for himself, a good outcome for me and I’m very happy my customers will receive great ongoing service from Shaun.

I’ve heard from Shaun a few times and it sounds like he is off to a flying start, I’m delighted for him.

Starting a small business is a huge step, so do as much due diligence as you can, if it feels right go for it, being your own boss is very rewarding

In addition to the above Mike O’Neill sold his existing Oven Wizards business to Al Crooks in the Scottish Borders and Colin Hadley sold his business to Rob Rosser, Hereford and Worcester West. They have both had full diaries from day one with regular repeat customers.

New Wizards continued to join in 2024 with Ben Moser starting his new Oven Wizards Territory in Brighton, Jon Symes in Sutton Coldfield and Tamworth and Nick Basford in Central Norfolk. They all got off to great starts in terms of seeing a return on their investment.

We have also seen a rise in the number of resales across the community as some Wizards have looked to realise their investments by selling their existing businesses to new Wizards looking to invest in a great Oven Wizards business. Other Wizards have chosen to expand by buying additional Territories.

Christmas is coming and our Wizards are very busy! …. Again!

It is shaping up to be the busiest December ever for Oven Wizards Franchisees. We are really pleased to report that most of our Franchisees are nearly booked up for that pre-Christmas oven cleaning rush. Some of our more experienced Wizards had December booked up Months ago and are now taking bookings for the New Year, they are booked up for weeks, if not months, in advance, which is great news!

Some Wizards have been working 5 or 6 days per week in December to cope with the demand for our services and are already getting bookings for December 2025!

They have been supported by a strong Oven Wizards internet presence, with the Oven Wizards website receiving record numbers of visitors in 2023, customers are looking for our Wizards to deliver our Magic on their ovens!

Another magical year for Oven Wizards!

 

Oven Wizards are pleased to report excellent continued growth in 2022

Business performance is up yet again with a 10% increase last year in terms of ovens cleaned by Oven Wizards Franchisees, culminating in another bumper December!

New Wizards continued to come on board with Territories snapped up by Nigel Reasbeck in the Vale of Glamorgan, Phil Cooper in Chester and the Wirral and Harvey Rainbow in Milton Keynes. They all hit the deck running in terms of immediately seeing a return on their investment with full diaries that continued throughout 2022.

The sale of my franchise went a lot better than expected with the help of Oven Wizards.

Harvey wanted something where he could focus on customer service, whilst building a successful business.

Harvey Rainbow invested in an Oven Wizards Territory after previously working as a store manager at the Co-Op. This is what Harvey had to say about his experience so far – 

“ I did a fair bit of research before I made my investment, I liked how well the Oven Wizards proposition was put together. There is lots of information available to get an understanding. I wanted a business where I could focus on customer service whilst at the same time building a successful business for myself and my family, Oven Wizards ticked all the boxes. One other factor for me was the size of the territory, Oven Wizards offer a good sized Territory with more than enough work available.

 During my initial training I was able to spend time with a local Wizard and from day one I learnt how to provide a professional oven valeting service. I have lots of neighbouring Wizards whose help and support has been invaluable. I also get the regular support from John and Mark. I sleep easy at night knowing that we have a wealth of experience to draw on from within the Oven Wizards community.

David Tomlinson owns and operates Oven Wizards Tynedale and Newcastle, this is what he has to say about his experience with Oven Wizards - 

I have completed over 10 years of trading and it has been challenging at times but also very successful and rewarding. I have always been ahead of my plans, and I have cleaned thousands,of ovens, hobs & extractors.

I started my franchise in November 2011 after being made redundant twice in 12 months. Along with my wife, I came to the conclusion that we should look at going self-employed. We looked at various franchises and came across Oven Wizards, I contacted Mark Abbott and John Graham, who jointly own and run Oven Wizards, and the rest, as they say, is history.

After a phone call, a meeting was promptly arranged. We decided to go ahead with one stipulation which was that I wanted to start trading before the end of 2011 to take advantage of the pre-Christmas rush.

Mark and John worked very effectively to get me up & running and by November 21^st, I was trading after a successful launch at a local supermarket.

The two weeks hands-on technical training was very in-depth and gave me great confidence to go out on my own. The business training & development was extremely informative and useful. Mark & John are always on hand, along with any other members of the Wizards’ community, should you need advice and support.

When you become self-employed you are THE BOSS and you need to work hard to be successful. With much leaflet dropping, local advertising and all the other business development techniques I picked up in the training, the work started coming in.  I am now always busy and because of the great service we provide I get lots of referrals from customers’ family and friends.

My experience with customers is to treat them with respect, be courteous, friendly and put them at ease,

Be confident and always, always, always be professional.

Do a good job and always clean up after you’ve finished and believe me the word will spread.

Yes, there is competition out there but if you follow the Oven Wizards’ model, you will see there is plenty of business to be had.

My franchise gives me the flexibility to work 7 days a week or 4-5 days a week and you will soon find the phone never stops ringing.
